Revlon 2013 Spring/Summer Collection Colorburst Lip Butter Review - Sorbet & Wild Watermelon

Just a quick one today! I recently picked up these two lovelies during one of my ritual Priceline binges and fell in love almost immediately. I was already a big fan of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters and these two shades from the 2013 Spring/Summer Collection are utterly perfect for the warmer weather now upon us! Wild Watermelon (left) is a lovely bright pink/orange that builds up to opacity in just a few swipes. Sorbet is an intense blue based fuchsia that again, can be layered for an opaque colour. Both shades are sheer cremes that don't have any shimmer or glitter. They kind of remind me of jelly! Read on for swatches.

These lippies have the usual adorable Revlon Lip Butter packaging, although the quilted lids are a touch brighter than the actual lipsticks themselves so maybe keep that in mind if you're expecting neon bright shades!
Now when I took these photos, it was midnight and all I had was the overhead light in my bedroom so I had to tweak the shots in post to try and capture the lipstick's proper colour. As a result, I look abnormally orange. Rest assured, I haven't been getting my GTL on in the hopes of bagging a gorilla juice head!
As you can see, Sorbet is a pretty blue toned pink. I wear these shades pretty sheer as I find that I can never get that crisp lip line you want with bright colours when I apply too many layers. Being the marginally more muted of the two, I actually thought this would be the more wearable of the two shades but Wild Watermelon proved me wrong!
Wild Watermelon is my new best friend. I love this thing, man! It's ultra wearable and unlike other shades in the red family, it doesn't completely take over your face so you can wear a touch more eye makeup without looking like a certain something that starts with D and ends with rag queen.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters have been out for a while now so there are a million other reviews out there extolling their light, balm like texture, moisturising properties and despairing at their shitty wear time. They retail for AUD$21.95 here in Oz (compared to US$6.49 in the USA... do not get me started on the ridonkulous price jack on cosmetics here in Australia!), but there's almost always a sale on them somewhere if you do some hunting around. I personally, will be getting my money's worth out of these babies which will definitely be on high rotation for me during the coming summer months!

Over and out!

    1. They are, aren't they? I purchased my first lip butter purely based on the gorgeous packaging. I'm an advertiser's dream!
