Cat Eye Liquid Liner and False Eyelash Tutorial

My go-to eye makeup look is the good old liquid liner cat eye. It can be glammed up or pared back as much as you like. I don't like to mess around with eyeshadow in my day to day because I'm super lazy and this look tricks people into thinking I actually put in some effort. Clever or what? When I want to step it up a notch, I throw on a pair of false eyelashes and a bit of illuminator and call it a day. My old mate Adele up here knows what's up! Sure, she's got some hardcore contouring and highlighting happening but the headline act is definitely the slick liner and lash job there. Check out my tutorials after the jump!

  1. Start with a bare eye. I do all my concealing mojo here as well.
  2. Using a pencil liner, draw a line on your top lid. You can also tightline your lash line to make your lashes look thicker. The Beauty Department has an excellent tutorial for this here. I also do a tiny little flick at the outer corner to make sure my 'cat-flicks' are at the same angle. You wouldn't believe how many times I've walked out the door with a self imposed lazy eye. Embarrassant!
  3. Trace over this line and fill it in using your liquid liner. Extend your 'cat-flicks' with the liquid liner as well.
  4. Finally, just curl your lashes and slick on some mascara. Done-skis!

  1. Forget the dinky little tubes of lash glue you get in your box of lashes, that stuff is no bueno! Get theeself down to your nearest MAC counter (or online or wherever it is you indulge your beauty lust) and buy a tube of DUO Lash Adhesive. One little tube will last you forever and trust me, once you try this stuff you'll never go back to watery budget lash glue ever again.
  2. These Revlon Fantasy Lengths Maximum Wear Lashes are my absolute favourites. The strip is super delicate so they're very comfortable to wear and easy to hide, even if you're not wearing liner. There's also a self-adhesive version which is awesome for quick application. These babies can be found at pharmacies, department stores and Priceline for about a tenner.
  3. Excuse the horrendous photo, it was late and I wasn't concentrating! Dot the glue along the base of the lashes and blow on them gently till the glue is tacky.

  1. Starting with made up eyes (liner, mascara etc) hold the strip in the centre, apply from the middle and work your way outwards, pushing the base as close to your natural lash line as possible. I hold my lashes using tweezers due to my ham-fistedness but definitely try applying them with your fingers if you have a more delicate touch than I.
  2. Using the other end of the tweezers, continue to push the lash strip onto your lash line to make sure the strip is stuck on good and proper. You'll know when the glue is dry when it's no longer opaque.
  3. ...and BOOM! Eyes be all sexy, sexy! At this point I smudge some shimmery eyeshadow at my inner corners and swipe some white liner on my waterline for a little more twinkle. Done!

Over and out!

  1. Hello Friends,

You should be able to comb through your lashes with a clean mascara wand. And you shouldn’t be able to feel them. ‘I’ve seen them at the skin of the eyelid, digging in,’ says Tran, which is painful. If that happens, have the extensions removed. Then you take The Lashe treatment. See more: strip lashes

    You are most welcome
